Texas motor-carrier rules

Texas Transportation Code Chapter 644 adopts applicable federal motor-carrier safety regulations and authorizes Texas DPS enforcement rules. A carrier must determine which interstate, intrastate, farm, passenger, hazardous-material, weight, permit, licensing, insurance, drug-and-alcohol, hours-of-service, and record-retention rules apply to its specific operation. RouteRanch cannot make that legal classification.

Commercial inspections

Texas-registered commercial vehicles remain subject to the Texas annual commercial inspection. RouteRanch lets company owners record an annual-inspection due date and insurance expiration for each truck. Its pre- and post-trip checklist includes federal equipment categories and Texas annual-inspection awareness items, including extra items for vehicles more than 80 inches wide. These reminders do not replace the official annual inspection, a roadside inspection, repair certification, or the carrier’s duty to keep unsafe equipment out of service.

Hours of service and ELDs

Driver clock times and daily reports are operational records only. RouteRanch is not an FMCSA-registered ELD and does not create an official record of duty status. A covered carrier must separately use a compliant ELD or other legally permitted recordkeeping method and follow applicable federal and Texas hours-of-service rules.

Texas privacy rights

RouteRanch does not sell personal data, use it for targeted advertising, or profile people for legally significant decisions. A verified Texas privacy request may be sent to h-vclients@outlook.com. We target a response within 45 days. When reasonably necessary and legally allowed, that period may be extended once for up to 45 additional days with notice and an explanation. Denials may be appealed by replying “Appeal.” Precise location is processed only when a user intentionally supplies a pin or grants device permission.

Security incidents

RouteRanch maintains an incident-response procedure for containment, investigation, preservation of evidence, and legally required notices. Texas law can require notice to affected individuals without unreasonable delay and generally no later than 60 days after determining a qualifying breach. A breach affecting at least 250 Texas residents can also require notice to the Texas Attorney General as soon as practicable and no later than 30 days after discovery. Exact duties depend on the incident, applicable exceptions, and legal advice.

Artificial intelligence

RouteRanch currently does not use AI to make employment, safety, dispatch, pricing, access, or eligibility decisions. Any future AI-assisted feature must be identified, reviewed by an authorized human, and restricted from unlawful discrimination, manipulation, prohibited biometric use, or replacement of legally required safety judgment. Texas company checklist

Confirm TxDMV, USDOT, operating authority, registration, licensing, insurance, and permit requirements for the operation.
Keep annual commercial inspections current and separately maintain all required inspection, repair, and maintenance records.
Determine hours-of-service and ELD coverage; do not treat RouteRanch daily reports as official duty-status records.
Maintain required CDL qualification, medical certification, drug-and-alcohol testing, training, and driver files.
Follow applicable vehicle weight, load securement, size, route, cargo, hazardous-material, payroll, employment, tax, and retention rules.
Give workers and customers required privacy notices and obtain permission before entering their personal or precise-location information.
Export business-critical records and review this setup with qualified Texas transportation counsel and a safety professional.
